The short answer

## What is a useful alternative to Bearable?

A useful Bearable alternative depends on the missing job: Daylio for a compact mood diary, Cronometer for detailed food records, Strong for lifting sessions, Calm for guided mindfulness, or Moodwell for several daily records together. Bearable remains a strong fit when custom symptoms and factor comparisons are the central task.

The revealing question is not which app has the longest feature list. It is which piece of your day you keep recording somewhere else. A symptom diary and a workout log can both be excellent without answering the same question.

This comparison uses published product documentation, not a hands-on performance test. The choices below deliberately include specialists. Moving to a broader app is useful only when the additional records matter enough to maintain.

## What is missing from your current record?

Start with a recent moment when the record let you down. Perhaps you could remember feeling worse but not when it began. Perhaps you had the symptom date but needed to open another app to find the workout. Or perhaps logging itself had become so elaborate that you stopped doing it.

Those are different problems. More detailed fields address the first. A shared place for records can address the second. Fewer fields may be the answer to the third. Buying more analysis will not recover observations you never entered.

Write one concrete requirement before browsing: “I want to review a week of symptoms,” or “I want to record lunch and training without changing apps.” Keep that sentence beside the comparison. It prevents attractive features from quietly replacing the reason you started looking.

## How do the alternatives differ?

A workflow comparison, not a clinical ranking. Follow each source for current plan limits.
| App | Record at its center | Useful when | Tradeoff |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Bearable | [Custom symptoms and factors](https://bearable.app/support/common-questions/bearable-free-vs-premium-features/) | Symptom history is the main question | Detailed setup takes attention |
| Daylio | [Mood and activities](https://daylio.net/) | You want a short daily check-in | Activity tags are not a full medication cabinet |
| Cronometer | [Foods and nutrients](https://cronometer.com/gold/) | The detail in meals matters most | A nutrition diary is not a symptom assessment |
| Strong | [Sets and training history](https://help.strongapp.io/article/132-strong-pro) | Your main record happens in the gym | It serves a narrower job |
| Calm | [Guided mindfulness and check-ins](https://support.calm.com/hc/en-us/articles/9699990936731-How-to-Use-Check-Ins) | You want something to listen to or reflect on | Content access and symptom analysis are different purchases |
| Moodwell | [Fitness, Health, Nutrition and Mindfulness](https://www.moodwell.ai/product) | You use several everyday records | No automated medication or supplement correlations |

A row is a starting point, not proof that a product will fit. Test the hardest entry in your own routine: an unusual symptom, a custom food, an exercise substitution or a day with several mood check-ins. That is where a broad feature label becomes a real workflow.

## When is staying with Bearable the better choice?

Bearable documents free custom symptom, mood and medication logging, with additional correlation reports in Premium. Its [plan comparison](https://bearable.app/support/common-questions/bearable-free-vs-premium-features/) makes it possible to separate the act of recording from the extra analysis you are paying for.

If a carefully built symptom vocabulary already helps you explain appointments, a move has a cost that a subscription table cannot show. You may lose familiar labels, a consistent scale or the ease of finding older context. A new interface does not automatically improve those things.

There is also a distinction between a relationship in a chart and an explanation. Two records changing together can suggest a question. They cannot establish that a medication, food or activity caused a symptom. That limitation belongs to the method, whichever app displays the chart.

## How do you compare price and privacy fairly?

Check the plan that includes your required workflow. [Daylio lists a free version and optional Premium features](https://daylio.net/faq/docs/daylio-faq/about/daylio-premium-features/); [Strong keeps a free workout log alongside PRO](https://help.strongapp.io/article/132-strong-pro); [Cronometer separates Basic from Gold](https://cronometer.com/gold/). Moodwell offers a subscription with a trial, not a permanent free plan.

Compare the actual checkout totals in your region, billing interval and store. A free entry screen is not evidence that historical reports, export or reminders are included. Equally, a paid plan is not necessarily needed for the one job you care about.

Data location also changes the decision. [Daylio describes entries stored on your device, with optional private-cloud backup](https://daylio.net/faq/privacy-policy/). That differs from an account-based service. Ask where your record lives, how you recover it after losing a phone and what leaves the app when you request AI assistance.

## What does a useful switching test look like?

1. Keep the original history intact and save an available export before making changes.
2. Use the new app for a small, ordinary sample of days. Include a busy day, not just setup day.
3. Repeat your original question using the new record. Can you find the answer without reconstructing it from memory?
4. Check what cannot move across. A CSV export does not guarantee an importer exists in the destination.

Pay attention to what disappears during the test. If fewer taps make you more willing to record, a simpler diary may be enough. If removing a specialist tool makes your food or training record less useful, keeping that specialist can be the sensible outcome.

For a connected workflow, start with [tracking mood alongside medication records](https://www.moodwell.ai/the-whole-picture/tracking/track-mood-and-medication-together). For the interpretation limits, read [cross-domain correlation](https://www.moodwell.ai/the-whole-picture/concepts/cross-domain-correlation). Seeing records together and explaining their relationship remain separate jobs.

## Questions, answered

**Is there a free Bearable alternative?**

Several alternatives offer a free tier, including Daylio, Cronometer and Strong, but they cover different jobs. First check whether the specific fields, history and export you need are included. Moodwell has a trial followed by a subscription.

**Which alternative is best for symptom correlations?**

Bearable is worth keeping on the shortlist if custom symptoms and factor comparisons are the priority. A broader wellness app is not automatically a deeper symptom-analysis tool. Compare the actual report, its inputs and how it handles missing days.

**Can Moodwell find medication effects on mood?**

No. You can maintain medication and mood records in Moodwell, but medication and supplement correlations are excluded from its cross-layer connection engine. A timeline can support a conversation without establishing a treatment effect.

**Can I import my Bearable history into Moodwell?**

Moodwell does not currently offer a Bearable importer. Keep the export as a separate archive. The supported Shotsy import is specific to its file format and does not imply general CSV support.
