Review a supplement label before trusting the record
Check a captured label against the original, including serving information, ingredient names, and details that are easy to miss.
In brief
Capture a readable label, then compare the saved supplement name, serving information, and ingredients with the container. Correct what you can verify and treat absent ingredient data as incomplete coverage.
Make the label readable first
The best starting point is a label you can read yourself. Place the container where glare does not cover the small print, and include the relevant label panels. A clear product name on the front does not capture everything printed on the sides. Keep the container nearby while you review the result.
Moodwell supports supplement label capture, but a captured result still needs checking. Do not accept an unfamiliar ingredient spelling or missing unit simply because the rest of the record looks convincing. The goal is an accurate copy of the product information, not a fast approval of the first result.
Keep label servings separate from recorded use
Serving information describes how the label presents its contents. Your schedule describes planned use, and your history contains the use you log. These are three related records rather than interchangeable numbers. Read the words attached to each amount before carrying it into another field.
For example, a nutrient amount printed per serving should remain associated with that serving when you review the saved panel. Do not silently relabel it as the amount per capsule. If the capture has mixed those ideas together, resolve the discrepancy against the original rather than trying to make the total look plausible.
Example: the front label was clear, the side was not
Suppose a photo correctly identifies a supplement and several named ingredients, but the smaller other-ingredients panel is partly hidden by the curve of the bottle. The saved record now looks mostly complete. That appearance does not mean the missing text has been checked or that the list represents the whole label.
Compare each saved line with the original. Recapture the unreadable panel or use the available item editing controls for details you can verify. Keep an unresolved ingredient question on your review list. Do not treat a missing allergen finding as confirmation about text the record never contained.
Check these details before moving on
- Match the complete product identity, including any version wording that distinguishes this container from a similar product in search results.
- Read the serving size and the basis of each listed amount. Preserve the units exactly where the record asks for them.
- Compare active and other ingredient information with the label, including text outside the main facts panel.
- Reopen the saved item to confirm the resulting record. Note missing information as a gap rather than treating it as a clean check.
Use the record to support a specific question
If you want to discuss a supplement with a health professional, the exact container and saved record are more useful than a category such as vitamins. FDA guidance notes that supplements can interact with medicines and recommends discussing their use with a health professional.
A well-copied label gives that conversation a clearer starting point. It does not establish that a supplement is suitable, effective, or fully checked by Moodwell.
