Correct a dose record without losing the real event

Identify a duplicate or incorrect dose entry carefully, then check the remaining history after the correction.

Moodwell3 minute read

In brief

Open the item history and confirm the exact incorrect event by its date, time, status, and amount. Moodwell lets you delete a dose record; deletion is permanent. If an event needs replacing, record only the details you can verify and check the final history.

Name the error before touching the record

A duplicate entry, a wrong timestamp, and an event saved under the wrong item are different mistakes. Start by stating which one you believe occurred. Open the cabinet item and compare its identity with the event you intended to record. Similar names can make a correct-looking amount misleading.

Read the entire history row, including status, date, time, amount, and any available notes or injection site. Use nearby entries for context. Do not delete a record solely because a daily total seems larger than expected. Establish what the entry represents before changing the evidence behind that total.

Know what deleting a record does

Dose history provides a delete action for saved events and asks you to confirm permanent deletion. This removes the selected record. It is not a way to mark an event skipped, and it is not an edit of the medication schedule. Keep those tasks separate.

Before confirming, write down any verified details you will need if the event must be entered again. The history does not promise an undo or a recoverable trash folder. If you only want to investigate an entry, leave it in place until you understand which information is actually wrong.

Example: the same event was saved twice

Imagine you recorded one dose and later entered it again while catching up on the day. Two entries now have matching amounts and nearly identical times. Confirm from your own record of the event that they describe one occasion rather than two separate occasions.

Keep the accurate entry and delete the confirmed duplicate. Then reopen or review the refreshed history and check that the intended event remains. You do not need to add a third record explaining the duplicate as another dose. The correction should leave one saved event for the one event that actually happened.

Use a deliberate correction sequence

  1. 1

    Confirm the item and event

Check name, strength, date, time, and status. Be especially careful when several records were entered together.

  2. 2

    Preserve verified details

Keep the correct timestamp, amount, and relevant context available before removing an entry that you intend to replace.

  3. 3

    Remove only the incorrect record

Read the permanent-deletion confirmation and check that it applies to the event you identified, not a neighboring entry.

  4. 4

    Inspect the resulting history

If a replacement was necessary, confirm that it has the original event time and that no extra duplicate remains.

Leave uncertainty unresolved when necessary

If you cannot establish whether an entry is wrong, keep investigating rather than deleting to make the timeline look tidy. Correcting a data error requires evidence about the data, not a preferred daily total.

If the uncertainty is about what medication you actually took or what to do next, contact your pharmacist or prescriber. A record correction cannot answer a treatment question, and a cleaner chart does not change the underlying event.
