Record a past dose with the right date and time

Catch up on a confirmed event without making the entry time look like the time you took it.

In brief

Before saving a past dose, confirm the item and event, then set the date and time to when it actually happened. Review the saved history afterward. Do not invent precise times or fill gaps solely from the recurring schedule.

The event and the entry can happen on different days

When you enter a dose later, two times are involved: when the event happened and when you opened the app to record it. The date and time in the dose record should describe the event. Leaving a current timestamp unchanged can make an older event appear to belong to today.

Moodwell lets you review the date and time in the dose logger before saving. Make that field part of your review whenever you are catching up. A correct product and amount still leave a misleading history if the event lands on the wrong date.

Confirm the event before filling the gap

Use information you can reasonably verify, such as a note made at the time. The recurring schedule tells you what was planned, not what actually happened. A blank day in history is not a request to manufacture a completed event for that day.

If you remember taking an item but cannot establish the time well enough for the available fields, keep that uncertainty in your own notes rather than presenting a guess as exact. In particular, avoid copying a scheduled time simply because it is already displayed. The record should preserve what you know and what you do not.

Example: logging last night the next morning

Suppose you made a note that a confirmed event happened at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, but you are entering it at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Select the intended cabinet item, review the saved amount and unit, and change the event date and time to Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.

After saving, open dose history and confirm that the entry appears on Tuesday. Check for an existing Tuesday entry before adding another one. This final check catches both the unchanged current timestamp and an accidental duplicate created because you forgot you had already recorded the event.

Check four things before saving

  • Item: the name, form, and strength match the product involved in the original event, including any older cabinet entry that still matters.
  • Status: the entry describes what happened, rather than treating a previously scheduled or snoozed occasion as confirmation of intake.
  • Timestamp: the calendar date and clock time belong to the event. Pay extra attention when the event occurred close to midnight.
  • History: no matching event is already present. Reopen the saved entry to confirm the displayed date, time, amount, and unit.

Take extra care with travel and old notes

A note made during travel may use a different local clock from the device you are using now. Keep the original date, time, and location context available while you check how the record is displayed. Do not assume every imported or handwritten time uses the same convention.

This is a recordkeeping question. Decisions about changing medication timing while traveling belong with the product instructions and your pharmacist or prescriber, not a timestamp correction in the app.
