How to log a workout in Moodwell

Set up the session, record sets accurately, and use the completed summary to make the next workout easier to plan.

Moodwell2 minute read

In brief

To log a workout in Moodwell, start a session from a routine or build one, record the reps and weight for each completed set, and finish the workout. Check the saved summary before using it as a reference for your next session. A scheduled routine alone is not a completed workout.

Start from a routine or build the session

Open a planned routine when you want a familiar exercise order, or start from scratch for an unplanned session. Check the listed exercises and units before the first set so the log matches what you intend to do.

A log is a record of the work you completed. It does not need to prescribe the workout or decide what is appropriate for your body.

Record the session as it happens

  1. 1

    Open the exercise

Confirm the movement and any saved notes.

  2. 2

    Enter the set

Record the completed reps and weight in the selected unit.

  3. 3

    Adjust honestly

Change or remove a set if the session differs from the plan.

  4. 4

    Finish the workout

Review the summary before saving the completed session.

Use history as context for the next session

Previous sets can help you remember what you did, but they are not a command to add more. Consider form, recovery, pain, and the purpose of the current session before changing the load.

  • Look for consistent work across several sessions
  • Read any notes attached to the movement
  • Treat personal records as milestones, not minimums
  • Record pain or an injury concern rather than pushing through it

Keep the record accurate

Correct accidental entries while the session is fresh. If you switch equipment or units, make sure the saved value represents the weight you actually used. Accurate history is more useful than a perfect-looking chart.

For example, if you planned three sets of 10 but completed 10, 9, and 8 reps, save those three actual results. Keep the unit consistent with the equipment you used. The next session's history should remind you of the work you did, including the variation between sets.

Before leaving the completed summary, check that you have the right exercises, set counts, weights, and reps. A typing mistake can make a personal record or progress chart misleading. Use the workout history to find the session again when you need to review it.
